A few days ago, on September 8th to be exact, Catholics commemorated the birthday of Mama Mary. Well, technically, there is no mention in the Bible about her birth date, however, Catholics have been celebrating Mother Mary’s birthday on September 8.

It is the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is exactly nine months after December 8 — the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. That is not, as many people (including a lot of Catholics) mistakenly believe, the day on which Mary conceived Christ, but the day on which the Virgin Mary herself was conceived in the womb of her mother. (The day on which Jesus was conceived is the Annunciation of the Lord, March 25 — exactly nine months before His birth on Christmas Day.) At this time of the year, the same story would come to my mind. It is the story my English instructor in senior high school shared with us.

It is a story about a nun’s dream.

Sister Anna, not her real name, had this dream in the late 90s, during the time she was newly ordained and was living in one of the monasteries in Mindanao, the southern mainland of the Philippines.
